Summer Student, Accounts Payable - Financial Controller

Supervisor:
Manager, Accounts Payable - Financial Controller

CORE ACCOUNTABILITY

Participate in the daily management of supplier invoices and ensure invoices are entered in a timely manner; work with other departments to obtain missing information on invoices; support other A/P colleagues, as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Process invoices accurately, in a timely manner and ensuring all reasonable discounts are taken.
Match purchase order (PO) invoices against POs and appropriate receipts and work with the Procurement department to resolve discrepancies and issues.
Ensure accuracy of inputted sales tax (GST/QST/HST) and sales tax selfassessment at the time of invoice processing.
Effectively communicate and liaison with vendors and other departments to resolve all inquiries and discrepancies.
Organize all invoices received in the department, manage accounts payable inbox, scan documents as required.
Request updates to vendor master, as required.
All other related tasks.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

College diploma in Accounting or in the process of graduating with a business / accounting degree
One to three years of relevant experience
Bilingual (French/English) (an asset)
Good knowledge of computer software such as MS Office (more specifically Excel)
Familiarity with ERP systems (Accounts Payable module of Workday, an asset)
Ability to handle considerable volume under tight deadlines;
Effective time management skills and ability to multi task.
Attention to details.
Teamwork and tactfulness.
Ability to develop positive relationships with peers.
