Core Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for the preparation and processing of full cycle Canadian and US payroll_,_ _including maintenance of employee records, calculation of commissions, and preparation of payrollrelated accounting information.
  • Responsible for administering time & attendance. This includes issuing time cards to new employees, maintaining accurate employee information, creating reoccurring schedules, and training supervisors and new employees on the system.
  • Responsible for ensuring accuracy through account reconciliation of all payroll clearing and liability accounts.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding payroll and benefits information, in a timely manner. Proactively communicate with all staff changes or updates to payroll or benefit information.
  • Maintains personnel, payroll, and benefit files
  • Oversee the benefits administration process, responsible for providing information to employees, addressing inquiries, and resolving issues that arise. This includes extended health benefits.
  • Responsible for updating employee information including address, title, earnings, dependant information, etc with the benefit providers and in the payroll system.
  • Responsible for calculating and processing profit share, the annual cost of living, or any special payments.
  • Responsible for providing information to WorksafeBC for claims.
  • Prepare employment verification letters as requested.
  • Prepare Receiver General remittances, EHT, WCB remittances, RRSP/TFSA remittances
  • Responsible for ensuring payroll compliance with Canadian and US laws.
  • Responsible for yearend preparation of T4s, W4 (Everett), and T2200 forms.

Qualifications and Skills:

years of full cycle Canadian payroll experience - US payroll experience is an asset but not required

  • PCP Certification with mínimal completion of Level 2 is required
  • A diploma or Degree relevant to payroll is an asset
  • Experience using a payroll system, time and attendance, and HRIS systems is an asset
  • Strong organizational and attention to detail skills with the ability to multitask
  • Ability to exercise a high level of professionalism and discretion with confidential information
  • Solid knowledge of employment and labor standards
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to provide a high level of customer service
  • Able to work independently with limited supervision
