Site Supervisor - Kingston, Canada - R.W. Tomlinson Limited
Description
Tomlinson Organics is currently seeking a Site Supervisor to oversee the operations, composting and maintenance of our facilities located on the easternmost end of the Greater Kingston Area.
This is a full-time position.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Promote & maintain highest possible safety standards & conduct regular safety meetings with employees
- Operate the site within the requirements of the ECA's (Environmental Compliance) and associated regulations
- Seek productivity improvements, provide recommendations, and implement actions applicable to staff & resources
- Conduct daily inspections on equipment and infrastructure (i.e. buildings, drainage, etc.)
- Work with coordinator to develop service/repair/maintenance schedules for all equipment
- Actively participate in CoR safety processes, documentation, and other requirements as necessary
- Work closely with the General Manager & Sales team to set and/or implement pricing strategies, policies, procedures, and systems and to provide assistance when necessary to respond to RFPs/tenders & special events
- Provide employees with coaching, mentoring and conflict resolution
- Communicate with customers in clear and positive manner
- Operate wheel loader, loading walking floors, dump trucks as necessary and smaller vehicles such as 1⁄2 ton trucks and utility trailers.
- Operation of various equipment such as excavator, shunt truck, grinder, trommel screener and stackers.
- Ability to coach and train other employees on how to operate all equipment
- Mixing and building compost windrows (knowledge of compost regulations is an asset but training will be provided)
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Working outdoors, in a soiled environment (including rain & snow)
- Ability and willingness to work at multiple sites
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- 10 or more years' experience in operations management
- Must have a valid drivers' license with a clean abstract
- Positive attitude towards and prior experience with process improvement
- Ability to recognize achieved goals and performance
- Ability to motivate employees
- Mechanical background an asset
- Availability to work occasional weekends
