Our Northstar Access yard in
Navin (Winnipeg), MB is where we house and store our gear and equipment.

Our yard workers and drivers play a very important role in facilitating the movement of our scaffolding gear to our customers who rent the material or have us build it for their project.

We are looking to expand our yard team through an opening for a Yard Shipper/Receiver & Driver.


Responsibilities:


  • Operate flatbed vehicle to pick up and deliver scaffolding gear and equipment
  • Manual loading and unloading required frequent lifting up to 50lbs occasional lifting up to 100lbs
  • Perform pretrip inspection of vehicle
  • Deliver gear and equipment over established routes in a timely manner
  • Ensure correct loading of vehicle and safety strapping/fastening of gear and equipment
  • Operate vehicle in a safe manner, obeying all rules of the road
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures regarding the delivery of goods
  • Record information on pickups and deliveries, vehicle mileage, fuel costs and any problems
encountered

  • Communicate with main office dispatch
  • Manual loading and unloading of gear and equipment in a safe manner, using provided tools as
appropriate (e.g. dollies, lifts, etc.)

  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.
  • Check all loadrelated documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.
  • Maintain logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status, following applicable
provincial and federal regulations.

  • Communicate effectively with the E&D crews, customers, and coworkers
  • Perform periodic inspections before, during, and after delivery to ensure that load is properly
fastened down and is secure

  • Provide feedback to supervision regarding customer or crew problems, mechanical problems, or
delivery problems

  • Complete all necessary paperwork at the end of the shift. May include, but not limited to, daily
logs, inspection logs, delivery receipts, vehicle inspection, hours of service, etc.
Loading/unloading delivery vehicles in a safe manner with frequent lifting up to 50lbs

  • Order picking, ensuring accuracy
  • Counting, stacking, and organizing scaffold gear
  • Safety checks of gear and equipment
  • Keeping yard clean and organized
  • May operate company vehicle to deliver gear to customer or project sites
  • Understand and adhere to the company's safe work practices and regulations

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:


  • High school education or GED
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license
  • Must be able to provide a clean drivers' abstract
  • Commercial driving/delivery experience
  • Able to communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Frequent lifting up to 50lbs occasional lifting up to 100lbs
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • High level of customer service commitment
  • Able to work efficiently as part of a team, as well as independently
  • Organized and attention to detail
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
  • Professional/mature demeanor under stressful situations
  • Must be able to work Fulltime with mínimal supervision; must be selfdirected
  • Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments where temperatures will range throughout the various seasons with exposure to cold and hot temperatures
  • Constant use of arms and hands to reach for, handle, carry, and manipulate objects up to 50lbs and occasionally up to 100lbs
  • Standing, walking, kneeling, crawling, crouching occurs frequently
