**Construction

  • Contract Administrator**
    Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide administration of railway infrastructure and railway right of way construction projects
  • Oversee and prepares responses for Contractor correspondence, submittals, requests for information, and field clarifications; verifies quality control, including issuance of nonconformance reports, to ensure compliance and accountability with the Contract Documents
  • Implement systems and procedures for processing RFCs, Site Instruction, Change Orders, etc. for the Construction Contract
  • Review applicability of contractor requested changes and deviations of the original Construction Contract
  • Provide confirmation that construction qualities have be adequately calculated for processing payments
  • Coordinate and manage onsite inspections duties so that the Contractors activities are documented daily
  • Laisse with the contractor and the owner on contract issues
  • Chair and lead construction project meetings
  • Provides project status and reporting
  • Issue and/or negotiate change orders, extra work claims, and work directives

Qualifications/Skills:


  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree e.g., in Engineering or Construction Management required
  • Registered with PEO as a P.Eng, and or Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) designation.
  • 10+ years' experience in administering and inspecting railway and transit projects for clients such as Metrolinx-GO Transit, CN Rail, CP Rail.
  • Demonstrated experience railway rightofway and construction projects.
  • Experience with Construction Management Software
  • Proven analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.


Must be able to manage change on a fast-moving project and where necessary and achieve resolution in a timely manner.

Be a team player and comfortable with partnering principles and best practice.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Ability to organize, prioritize and schedule work.

Ability to analyze and solve problems.


Must be able to manage change on a fast-moving project and where necessary and achieve resolution in a timely manner.

Valid Ontario driver's license with an acceptable driving record, and access to a reliable vehicle.

Experience using Oracle Unifier document management system is considered an asset.
