What You Will Get To Do
Reporting to the Manager, Operations - Parks, the Supervisor, Operations - Parks is responsible for overseeing the daily operation and supervision of the Parks division including:
- Supervising, planning and delivering the day-to-day operation;
- Providing input to the development of long term resource needs and strategic plans;
- Recruitment, training, personnel development and labour relations;
- Supervision, scheduling and oversight of work performed by staff and contractors;
- Ensure that the required staff, equipment and materials are available;
- Preparation, evaluation and administration of various tenders/quotations;
- Ensure compliance, including training and documentation, with technical regulations and legislation, i.e. Electrical Safety Authority, Canadian Standards Association Playground Standards, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, Ministry of the Environment requirements, International Society of Arboriculture best practices, etc.;
- Developing, implementing and training of new and existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and ensuring compliance and documentation as applicable, adhering to the Occupational Health and Safety Act;
- Provide input to the capital and operating budget process;
- Effectively respond to general requests, concerns and complaints from residents, the public, user groups, senior staff, and other departments; and,
- Other duties as may be assigned.
