The position is to advance long baseline and atmospheric neutrino oscillation research on Super-Kamiokande (Super-K) and Hyper-Kamiokande (Hyper-K) experiments.The incumbent is expected to take the leading role in one or more of the areas of
TRIUMF group involvement, including:
the development of detector calibration hardware and software in Super-K, the Intermediate Water Cherenkov Detector (IWCD) and Hyper-K; the development and construction of the Water Cherenkov Test Experiment (WCTE) and the subsequent detector calibration and data analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Operate and develop hardware and software for detailed PMT characterization for the Super-K, IWCD and Hyper-K detectors
- Contribute to the design of the calibration hardware and software of WCTE, IWCD and Hyper-K
- Contribute to Super-K and WCTE data analysis
- knowledge in detector hardware and simulation
- good oral and written communication skills
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
A PhD in particle or nuclear physics received within the last 5 years.
This is a temporary 3 year position.
TRIUMF is located on the south campus of the University of British Columbia, in the heart of Pacific Spirit Park in Vancouver, BC.
