Purpose

The Hearts in Action Program Assistant (Recreation and Planning) will report to the Program Supervisor.

The role is responsible for program and administrative support for day to day operations which include program planning, activity calendar creations, data entry, and ongoing communication internally and externally on behalf of AdaptAbilities.

They are integral to the success of the program by providing valuable support to families, Community Specialists, and ultimately furthering the organizational vision.

The conscientious Program Assistant will act with integrity, be open to growth, live our purpose, cultivate teamwork, and put forth an extraordinary effort to empower people with special needs and their families to grow, succeed, and belong.

Key Functions

  • Process incoming participant registrations
  • Create engaging activity plans for children, youth, and young adults with specials needs with consideration for Recreation, Expressive Arts, and Essential Life Skills or the 8 Life Domains
  • Prepare summer camp supplies including but not limited to supplies shopping and inventorying recreation, arts, and program supplies
  • Provides administrative and program support to Hearts in Action Team, including but not limited to data entry, documentation management, weekly reporting, and internal and external communication with parents/guardians or stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment, with flexibility managing competing departmental demands
  • Communicate effectively with integrity to individuals, families and coworkers
  • Perform other jobrelated activities, as required

Qualifications:


  • Enrollment in a Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, Recreation, Education, Human Services, and/or related field
  • 23 years' experience in related field, with one year administrative experience
  • Experience working with children, teens, and adults with disabilities is an asset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English
  • Strong organizational and problemsolving abilities
  • Clear Police Information Check and Intervention Record Check
  • Possess or be willing to obtain: First Aid with CPR, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Abuse Prevention and Response Protocol, Medication Administration
Working Conditions

This is a temporary full-time position from February to September 2023. Shifts are Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 4:30pm.

Compensation


Hourly Rate:
$20.43
