Description

Igloo Building Supplies Group is hiring an entry level Junior Purchasing Agent.

The position entails purchasing products at the best price and quality along with the delivery of purchased products in a timely manner.

Duties:

Purchase products at best price, quality and timely delivery of material for the Edmonton branch and other departments as required.
Ensure costing, product descriptions, vendor information, etc. is accurate and complete.
Provide product and vendor performance reports as required by management.
Identify and investigate alternate source of supply for required materials.
Communicate with vendors to obtain current market conditions and trends.
Monitor inventory levels to ensure a balanced inventory.
Identify slow moving items and take necessary action to sell off.
Continually review and adjust the min/max quantities.
Attend product knowledge seminars as required.
Review and process claims against vendors.
Coordinate deliveries and shipments.
Review all inventory weekly.
Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Knowledge of flooring and siding materials would be an asset.
Excellent computer knowledge.
Excellent communication, verbal and negotiation skills.
Able to consistently represent the company in a professional manner.
Ability to work with little or no supervision.
Analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skill.
Ability to respond appropriately in pressure situations with a calm and steady demeanour.
Previous experience of in the construction industry is an asset.
