Spectrum Resource Group
JOB SUMMARY: Wright Canada Holdings, operating as the Spectrum Resource Group, is seeking Support Staff (Checkers) for the 2024 planting season beginning mid-April through to mid-August. We have 14 million seedlings to plant Tree planting is one of the toughest jobs on the continent and a skilled and experienced team is required to support the operations. Compensation is competitive, based on industry experience and paid as a day rate. If you are looking for a challenge, with opportunities to demonstrate your leadership and technical skills, this job is for you.
Spectrum has long and rich history of reforesting clearcuts and reclaiming disturbed sites in northern British Columbia and Alberta. Over the last 37 years we have employed thousands of tree planters to restore hundreds of thousands of hectares of land disturbed by logging, mining and oil and gas. Come join the management team of one of the longest running and most reliable tree planting companies in the country
Spectrum's Support Staff compensation is competitive with other tree planting companies with statutory holiday pay and vacation pay.
Spectrum's tree planting camps are remote bush camps. Spectrum tree planting camps have a kitchen with meals provided, dining tents, bathrooms, shower facilities, first aid rooms, drinking water and Starlink internet access. Shift schedule is 3 days on, 1 day off rotation but are subject to change as a support staff member. Support Staff can expect training and mentorship from supervisors before the season and throughout. We maintain a proactive approach to safety and injury prevention with camp first aid attendants and training from industry leading physio therapists on injury prevention and management techniques.
The Reforestation Support Staff member primarily monitors quality on the block, inspects worksites to ensure OH&S compliance, completes duties around camp and tasks required by the camp supervisor. The Support Staff is also responsible for leading teams during camp set up and take down. Ideal candidates have strong leadership skills, can inspire those around them and perform well under pressure.
Support Staff are responsible for bringing their own sleeping accommodation (e.g., tent, trailer), personal items including clothing, footwear, and toiletries. Spectrum has opportunities to continue working beyond the tree planting season.
