How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team:

The Project Manager, Restoration & Infrastructure works in collaboration with various TRCA teams, project partners and stakeholders to manage as well as plan, develop and implement assigned projects within portfolio scope.

This role focuses on managing relationships with stakeholders while providing technical expertise and contributing to project execution.


Major Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for managing the planning, implementation and execution of full cycle projects.
  • Leads and manages all aspects of assigned projects including project charter, project plan and schedule, project approals, project resources, project progress, budget, risk management, issues management, change management, resource management, and quality assurance
  • Determines project requirements, conducting research and evaluations, and obtaining all approvals and signoffs
  • Provides direction on implementing restoration and landscape improvement projects that achieve corporate Environmental restoration goals
  • Engages and works in collaboration with project staff, TRCA divisions and external project partners and coordinates Project Management Teams, Working Groups or Committees
  • Prepares preliminary work plans to develop estimates for projects. This includes working with staff to develop preliminary estimates and determining the number of hours required to complete planning, design, approval, procurement, and other phases of the project
  • Oversees the work of consultants or contractors ensuring adherence to project scope, timelines, budget and requirements; evaluting performance to ensure adherence to project schedule, budget, scope, and contract terms
  • Negotiates and documents project changes involving scope, timelines, and budget
  • Reporting on project progress (including financials) as part of the internal budget process or to funders through fee for service agreements
  • Maintains existing professional contacts and positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Participate in internal and external committees and teams and engages and consults with project/program stakeholders and prepares analysis and communications on projects/programs, including project milestones and scheduling
  • Prepares proposals for partnership agreements and nontraditional sources of funding to assist in achieving mutual objectives
  • Leads a team of staff and ensures that team members understand expectations; communicates schedule, tasks and discusses priorities of items
  • Communicates with team members regularly to assess workload and status of activities, amends work and reassigns staff as needed to direct workflow and accommodate for any situational circumstances
  • Supports onboarding and provides on the job training and support as needed for individuals; also identifies any gaps in or potential improvement areas for training, development, process, resources, or procedures
  • Manages employee performance and individual team performance
  • Supports a culture of workplace equity and inclusion that celebrates diversity
  • Ensures business processes are streamlined, documented and cascaded to team members
  • In collaboration with Human Resources:
  • Manages team recruitment, selection and hiring of talent
  • Manages individual employee development and individual development plans, considering high performing staff and managing underperforming staff
  • Recommends compensation performance adjustments
  • Recommends individuals for promotions/transfers
  • Ensures resources are in place to manage daytoday workload, providing immediate supervisors with recommendations for budget/resource requirements to meet future workload and project needs
  • Ensures staff/volunteers/contractors, as applicable, comply with health & safety policies, and other TRCA policies, as applicable in various work environments, while leading incident investigation and mitigation process
