FPI-2265 targeting prostate specific membrane antigen (PSMA) for metastatic castration resistant prostate cancer currently in a Phase 2 trial; FPI-1434 targeting insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor currently in a Phase 1 trial; FPI-1966, targeting the fibroblast growth factor receptor 3 (FGFR3), currently in a Phase 1 trial; and FPI-2059, a small molecule targeting neurotensin receptor 1 (NTSR1), currently in a Phase 1 trial.

In addition to a robust proprietary pipeline, Fusion has a collaboration with AstraZeneca to jointly develop novel targeted alpha therapies (TATs) and combination programs between Fusion's TATs and AstraZeneca's DNA Damage Response Inhibitors (DDRis) and immune-oncology agents.

Fusion has also entered into a collaboration with Merck to evaluate FPI-1434 in combination with Merck's KEYTRUDA (pembrolizumab) in patients with solid tumors expressing IGF-1R.

To support Fusion's growing pipeline of TATs, the company has signed strategic actinium supply agreements with TRIUMF, Niowave, and BWXT Medical.

About the Opportunity


As the Accounting Specialist at Fusion Pharmaceuticals, you will report directly to the Associate Director and support the day-to-day operational accounting for the Company's Finance function.

In this role, you have the opportunity to be a collaborative contributor by working with an existing Finance team based in Hamilton and the US.

You will work cross-functionally within the business and with external vendors to ensure operational accounting duties are carried out to a set standard.

Using your experience in this role, you also have the chance to evolve or refine our company processes gaining efficiency and greater simplicity within a complex and growing business.


Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Payroll

  • With the Associate Director, collaborate with HR and Benefits Specialists on a biweekly basis to ensure smooth payroll processing
  • Process Canadian and US payroll on a biweekly schedule in accordance with local and federal labour standards
  • Ensure timely processing of payroll information, changes related to employee information (benefits changes, etc.), working with sensitivity and discretion at all times
  • Participate in different initiatives and projects related to payroll as needed
  • Coordinate RRSP and 401K payments with our plan advisors on a biweekly basis
  • Record payroll journal entries for each cycle in the Company's general ledger
  • Perform monthly vacation, bonus and payroll accruals as required

Accounts Payable
- "Front of house" approach managing accounts payable and vendor management processes and relationships

  • Review and process invoices
  • Ensure timely remittance of payables, adhering to established controls for the payment of invoices
  • Prepare and reconcile Accounts Payable and related accounts

Purchasing

  • Responsible for procurement function within the Finance team, reporting to the Associate Director
  • Ensuring company compliance with purchase order set ups
  • Threeway matching to receive physical goods

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred but not essential
  • Payroll experience (CAN and US payroll experience a plus), working experience with ADP Workforce Now a plus
  • Accounts payable experience; processing invoices, working with vendors, payment runs
  • Purchasing experience desired
  • A motivated "sleeve's up" team player but can work independently when needed
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate with diverse personalities in a tactful, respectful and flexible manner
  • Proven accounting experience (5 years minimum)
  • Biotech/Pharma experience an asset; public company SOX environment experience a plus
  • Experience with external audit desirable but not required
  • Financial systems experience, Netsuite is a plus
  • High attention to detail; problem solving skills
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive material with discretion
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
