Summary:

Perform preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance repairs related to the facility care of the building.


Essential Functions:


  • Perform general building maintenance to ensure facility in an excellent state of repair.
  • Conduct regular preventative maintenance on fire extinguishers, doors, eye wash stations and kitchen equipment.
  • Coordinate and schedule contractors' preventative maintenance mitigating impact to the business operations.
  • Liaise with production staff on conducting fit and finish assessment of the operations.
  • Conduct corrective maintenance in operations and elsewhere in the building to ensure state of GMP readiness.
  • Coordinate with contractors to repair leaks with the facility.
  • Attend to faucet issues and schedule the relevant contractors to ensure issues are resolved.
  • Work with the team leader and or supervisor to ensure there are adequate supplies of materials required for the facility care.
  • Provide updates to team leader and supervisor on repairs.
  • Participate in the daily team huddles.
  • Pickup critical supplies as required on emergency basis from stores.
  • Work with team leader to establish an inventory of critical supplies with reliability.
  • Provide feedback on PM deficiencies as well as issues critical to the facility care.
  • Communicate safety concerns and issues to the team leader and or supervisor.
  • Other miscellaneous duties as assigned within the facility maintenance department.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and report potential hazards.
  • Performs alternating or rotating shift work as well as requirement to work during maintenance shutdowns.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Minimum high school diploma/General Educational Development (GED) Certificate is required.

Preferably a facility technician with a 403A license.


Experience:

Minimum 2 years of previous building maintenance experience in a controlled and regulated environment.

Experience with use of special paints/coating systems such as epoxy resins for touch-up of walls, equipment etc.

Knowledge, Skills
and Abilities:

Good skills and knowledge of various building repairs. Self-starter and good project organizer. Clean working habits and attention to details. Good communication skills. Familiarity with GMPs and Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) Regulations (an asset). Demonstrated computer proficiency with Microsoft Office programs. Proficiency with the English language.

Carry out all duties within strict compliance to Patheon quality systems Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).

Maintain workspace in a clean and orderly fashion.

Actively engage in and adhere to departmental systems to maintain a smooth and efficient workflow (visual management, scheduling systems, etc.).

Be client and patient conscious at all times.

Understand Key Performance Indicators and strive to improve the performance of the team by identifying areas for system improvements and engage in problem solving.

Models positive thinking and is open to change, motivating the team to adapt to shifts in priorities and new ways of working.

Proactively identify areas for improvement in the execution of procedures. Communicate risks to timelines in a proactive manner. Consistently strives to improve skills and knowledge in related field.


Physical Requirements:


Position requires ordinary ambulatory skills and physical coordination sufficient to move about manufacturing/office locations; ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch periodically for prolonged periods of time; manipulation (lift, carry, move) of light to medium weights of up to 40 pounds; arm, hand and finger dexterity; visual acuity to operate equipment, and read materials for prolonged periods of time; ability to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear for prolonged periods of time.

Usually in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors causing moderate physical discomfort from such things as dust, loud noise, bright lights, fumes or odour.

Use of Personal Protective equipment is required and may include any of the following:
safety glasses, safety shoes, lab coat, gloves, hair net, beard cover, safety apron, respirator.
