Works Technician 2 (Ops) - Waste Management
Reporting to the Waste Supervisor, the incumbent will:
- Conduct waste related site assessments, communicating with external agencies and commenting on site plans for development approvals
- Provide contract administration including site inspections, ensuring contracts and projects are carried out in accordance with specifications, budget, timelines and in compliance with relevant regulations and approvals
- Assist with the preparation of tenders, contracts, specifications and agreements with contractors, consultants and other municipalities
- Track, interpret and maintain current contract data and drafting various forms of communications to contractors, staff, external agencies and municipalities
- Represent the division in promotional and educational activities and assist in obtaining and interpreting technical data to educate the public
- Participate in special projects by aiding in assessing, analyzing, researching and reviewing projects for evaluation, recommended improvements and implementation
The successful applicant will possess:
- A threeyear postsecondary diploma in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Resource Management or a related discipline
- Several years of workrelated experience
- Knowledge and understanding of waste management programs, services and procedures
- Knowledge and experience with the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks Environmental Protection Act and other relevant Bylaws, Acts, and Regulations
- Experience working with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, Teams) and PeopleSoft FIMS
- Excellent verbal and written communication, report writing, presentation, organizational, time management, project management, contract administration, decision making, problem solving and analytical skills
- The ability to work independently or as part of a team
- A valid Ontario Class G Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle
CUPE 1764 Salary Grade 6
This position is with Salary Grade 6 and will be paid at the following hourly rates:
- Start: $
Six Month:
$ Job: $45.21
