Major Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Manager, 311 Project Management Office, the System Development Specialist (QA Analyst) provides expertise in the areas of Software QA/Testing of solutions for 311 Toronto.
- Designs and conducts all levels of testing i.e., system, integration, regression, performance, security, usability, optimization/configuration, and coordinates user acceptance testing.
- Performs requirements analysis duties as well as test cases design, test execution, documentation, and deployment preparation.
- Creates test plans, test cases, executes test scenarios, documents result and delivers defect reports.
- Liaises and coordinates with internal and external consultants in detailed systems deliverables and technical problem resolution.
- Verifies enterprise inhouse developed/custom/packaged systems and systems changes.
- Tests integrated systems to ensure system compatibility and proper functional integration.
- Conducts quality assurance on departmental and external developments.
- Provides testing support by providing technical assistance and troubleshooting.
- Provides documentation and instruction/training to users of the system.
- Conducts presentations, system demonstrations and system walkthroughs at project review meetings.
- Participates as a team member in the execution of project plans providing technical expertise and advice re: testing tools, work effort estimates.
- Contributes to postimplementation project reviews.
- Recommends improvements to current methodologies, processes, standards, policies, and guidelines.
Key Qualifications:
- University degree in computer science or a related discipline with extensive software testing experience in large scale IT solutions or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Extensive knowledge of Quality Assurance (QA) Methodologies and experience in creating test scenarios and test cases based on business requirements documents and other artefacts.
- Extensive experience in developing test scenarios, test cases and test data, executing the tests and analyzing the test results, recording bug/defects, and issuing and assigning preliminary severity level in a Defect Tracking System.
- Experience in executing various technical and business testing activities such as Functional Testing, System Testing, Acceptance Testing, Integration Testing, Regression Testing, Endtoend Testing and Performance Testing.
- Experience using Defect tracking and Project/Test tools
- JIRA, Confluence, HP ALM and X-Ray or similar test management tool).
- Solid understanding of System Development Life Cycle, Defect Life Cycle and Testing Life Cycle with a strong experience with software testing practices.
- Effective analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to effectively communicate in cross functional groups. Comfortable working in a fastpaced dynamic environment.
- Excellent organization and time management skills, as well as strong influencing and negotiating skills to achieve results.
- Certification in Software Quality is an asset.
You must also have:
- Working experience of software testing in a customer relationship management (CRM) systems environment, preferably Salesforce CRM
- Ability to work in Fast Paced Environment, meeting deadlines and stressful situations.
- Strong customer service orientation along with a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member, collaboratively with others in multidisciplinary team environment and work independently, as required.
- Advanced time management and estimation capabilities, and ability to perform several tasks and projects concurrently.
- Knowledge of current and emerging technologies and skills to evaluate and recommend new technology for introducing a complex technical environment.
- Ability to work flexible hours including days, afternoons, nights, and weekends, as required.
- Ability to be on call for support of production systems, as required.
