  • This role is eligible for hybrid this means you'll have the flexibility of working from home and in the office (in Regina), on a scheduled rotation once probation requirements have been met. Until then, the successful incumbent will be expected to work onsite, fulltime.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY

  • The Underwriting Assistant (Personal Lines Monoline) is responsible for underwriting routine insurance risks. This position evaluates, rates, and process insurance requests for property or auto insurance products. Underwriting decisions are governed by manuals, predetermined procedures, and authority levels. The Underwriting Assistant is customerfocused and looks for ways to improve the customer experience.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Underwriting Operations- Evaluates multiple products and their risk factors in a holistic and customer-centric approach to determine risk acceptability and rating.


  • Obtains additional information on risk if required using technology as well as external data sources for the purposes of quoting, negotiating, and authorizing the acceptance of risk.
  • Determines if risk is acceptable, needs modification, or should be declined based on analysis of all information pertinent to the risk and within the underwriter's authority.
  • Corresponds with brokers to request information and explain underwriting requirements and decisions.
  • Provides input into work processes and procedures.
  • Develops a basic understanding of the policy wordings, conditions, limitations, rates, and premiums with a strong focus on customer needs.
  • Maintains accurate records of decisions made and maintain completeness of policy data.
  • Completes claim alerts, underwriter reviews, and performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Identifies improvements to insurance products and/or systems.
  • Perform data entry and administrative activities.
  • Assist Underwriters with administration of complex policies.
Broker Experience and Relationship Management- Identifies opportunities to improve broker experience and seeks to find solutions while adhering to the company guidelines. Develops and maintains relationships with an assigned group of brokers to develop lasting and profitable relationships, which involve broker visits. Identifies opportunities to promote SGI CANADA's personal lines insurance products. Collaborates with other departments to deliver a consistent experience to brokers and customers. Understand and provide guidance to broker on the technologies used and offer support in completing business. Explains underwriting criteria and decisions to brokers (verbally and/or in writing).High Performance Team & Culture- Supports a culture of leadership and accountability to effectively meet the key accountabilities within the scope of the role. Displays leadership by committing to a culture of continuous learning/development of self and supports others by actively sharing knowledge, providing guidance, mentoring, training, and supporting developmental opportunities. Demonstrates that the Health, Safety and Emergency Management Policy is applied in area of responsibility for self and others.- TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS- Knowledge of the insurance coverages and benefits provided by the Automobile Accident Insurance Act (AAIA), other related legislation, and policy wordings applicable to Auto claims. Knowledge of insurance theory and the principles, practices, methods, and techniques related to the adjustment and settlement of Auto claims. Knowledge of the organization's customer service initiatives and demonstrated skill in putting the customer at the center of business decisions. Knowledge of the repair processes and procedures related to the auto body trade.

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS- Two-year diploma from an accredited post-secondary education institution in a relevant field of study such as Business, or defined equivalency.

EXPERIENCE- 6 months - 1 year experience working in customer service or related insurance role.


Pay Range:
$47, $56,244.00
