Apex Aluminum Extrusions Ltd. is a state-of-the-art aluminum extrusion factory with a 170,000 square foot facility and some of the most modern equipment in its industry. We believe in the ongoing investment and development of our processes and people.

Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the
Machine Operator will undertake the responsibilities to ensure the operation of the Extrusion Press and Auxiliary Equipment is operated in a safe and efficient manner

Shift details:

Two shifts are available
Day Shift: 7:00 am to 7:00 pm

Night Shift: 7:00 pm to 7:00 am

  • No experience required, we will train
  • The shifts are 12hour shifts
  • Every other weekend is a long weekend for the employee
schedule allows us to provide 24/7 coverage.

  • The pattern repeats every 2 weeks (14 days)
  • Employees work:
  • 2 consecutive shifts ON
  • Followed by 2 consecutive days OFF,
  • 3 consecutive shifts ON
  • Followed by 2 consecutive days OFF
  • 2 consecutive shifts ON
  • Followed by 3 consecutive days OFF

A TYPICAL DAY WILL INCLUDE:


  • Understand and practice all safe work procedures
  • Ensure order being processed is the order on the computer screen
  • Check and follow all special instructions attached with the order
  • Extrude order as scheduled or as authorized by Process Chargehand or Supervisor
  • Perform and record all required quality checks
  • Maintain a clean work area
  • Mark the end of orders, samples and splits with the proper coding
  • Ensure proper Extrusion practices are adhered to
  • Mark front ends and samples as required
  • Perform Die changes and load Dies into ovens when required
  • All required documentation to be completed neatly and accurately
  • Ensure process and quality problems are immediately reported to the Shift Chargehand
  • Keep Press area and Console clean
  • Any other duties as may be assigned

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS FOR SUCCESS:


  • Understand written and verbal directions
  • Able to use Verniers and Squares
  • Ability to read and interpret Die drawings
  • Basic computer skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Possess good math skills
  • Mechanical aptitude
