- Oversee shop facilities and service operations.
- Ensure that operational requirements are met by supervising, coordinating and scheduling the activities of trades people who repair and maintain Komatsu and other OEM equipment.
- Coordinate work through other trades such as welders and subcontractors.
- Assure a quality product by conducting in-process inspections and evaluating the finished product.
- Prepare and review SMS and Komatsu technical reports.
- Prepare and process internal and external work orders and ensures all supporting information is documented and kept with work order.
- Ensures all trades people are exercising safe procedures and that trade practices and regulations are followed and that they are trained in their assigned tasks.
- Assists with preparing and reviewing Incident/Accident reports.
- Assist customers by providing service information and by resolving service problems.
- Perform the administration of all Work Orders.
- Prepare reports and quotations as required.
- Review and sign-off on timecards.
- Prepare warranty work orders with all required documentation.
- Ensure correct and sufficient inventory is ordered to match large work orders.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Several years experience as a qualified tradesperson in a relevant trade.
- Supervisory experience in an industrial environment is a requirement.
- Ability to oversee and coordinate a large shop operation.
- Ability to read and interpret financial information i.e budgets
- Knowledge of OH&S acts and regulations and equipment inspection requirements.
- Strong communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to organise and prioritize tasks and ensure work is completed to a high standard in a timely fashion.

Description
At SMS Equipment , our Shop Supervisor is responsible for the safe, efficient, and economical operation of the branch shop facilities and related activities. The successful candidate will oversee a shop that maintains and repairs all Komatsu and other OEM equipment. This position will assign work and allocate tradespeople's time to best utilize available manpower. This position is in Wabush, NL.
The shift rotation for this position is 5x2.
The salary range for this position is $95,000 - $105,000.
