SUMMARY:


The Royal Canadian Yacht Club is a world class yacht club with a mandate to promote excellence in competitive sailing and sports.

The RCYC operates year-round from two facilities: our summer home at the Island Clubhouse and our City Clubhouse in downtown Toronto at St George and Bloor.

With over 4000 Members we have extensive services in Food and Beverage along with Fitness, Sports and Sailing facilities.


The Swim Instructor is responsible for providing instruction in a safe and enjoyable environment and be capable of providing first aid treatment where necessary.

The Swim Instructor will be responsible for the organization and preparation of swimming lessons for a variety of students, and have the ability to effectively and efficiently provide instruction and evaluation of swimmers.

Other responsibilities will include the maintenance of the pool area to ensure safety and ease of use.


WHAT WE OFFER:
- $32.00/hour for private and semi-private lessons

REQUIREMENTS:


  • Enjoy working with young children
  • Love swimming and watersports
  • Punctuality and Professionalism
  • Must be 18 years of age or older and able to get a Clear Vulnerable Sector Check
  • National Lifeguard Service (NLS) certification
  • Automated External Defibrillation (AED)
  • Standard First Aid with CPR certification
  • Red Cross Water Safety Instructors or Lifesaving Society Instructors designations

JOB DUTIES:

  • Connect with Children and get them excited about swimming
  • Provide safe and effective supervision of the pools, splash pad, and deck areas as per Club regulations and policies in addition to the regulations of the Health Protection and Promotion Act
  • Instruction of swim classes as assigned, with the use of the accompanying core lesson plans and student preferences or interests
  • Keep parents informed of progress and explain what to work on to improve and meet targets
  • Completion of daily attendance sheets and endofsession statistic sheets, and progress
  • Ensure that the pools, splash pad, and deck areas are safe and clean, all items used are put back
  • Ensure that classes are wellorganized and effectively delivered (i.e., starting and ending classes on time, being energetic and positive, providing appropriate feedback as requested)
