The Alberta Safety Council operates Kiwanis Safety City, a miniaturized children's safety village where children learn about pedestrian, bicycle, and environmental safety in a real-life setting. Over 8000 children visit Kiwanis Safety City each year, making it one of the top field trips to elementary school-aged children in Edmonton.
We are currently seeking a Children's Safety Instructor for the months of August to October for approximately 20-35 hours per week.
The majority of programming runs during the day, and the schedule could work very well for those who need to be home at the end of the school day. Flexibility in hours is required. Training is provided.
Job Tasks:
- Learn and implement various safety program curriculums
- Teach children aged 313 about pedestrian, traffic, fire, bicycle, environment, home, and babysitter safety and injury prevention.
- Provide clients with courteous and accurate information on our programs and facilitate the best possible access to our programs
- Ability to answer telephones and deal with customers/clients in person
- Complete photocopying/ scanning as assigned / necessary
- Assist the Program Coordinators/Directors in completing tasks as needed
Job Qualifications:
- Experience working with children
- Excellent classroom management skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Willing to acquire a First Aid Certificate or already have it
- High School Diploma
- Dedication to a team approach to providing excellent customer service
- Ability to work independently
- Knowledge of the ASC programs would be an asset
Job Types:

Contract length: 3 months
Salary:
$16.00 per hour

- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Edmonton, AB T6B 3A2: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Experience:
- teaching: 1 year (preferred)
