    Plant Power Engineer at Grand River Foods

    Job Purpose

    To provide the Plant with a high level of Power Engineering expertise to support company objectives efficiently. Ensure that maintenance goals, downtime targets, and preventative maintenance schedules are met. Carry out necessary equipment and building repairs while complying with quality, safety, food safety, and legislative standards.

    Work Shifts

    Monday - Thursday (10 x 4 Hours)

    Start Time: Approximately 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM

    Job Functions / Responsibilities

    • Operate and maintain stationary mechanical equipment like steam boilers and ammonia refrigeration plants.
    • Provide utilities, heating, and cooling for buildings and industrial processes.
    • Perform troubleshooting and immediate repairs on equipment.
    • Conduct equipment overhauls and installations.
    • Maintain equipment by recording data, adjusting controls, and performing routine maintenance tasks.
    • Ensure a safe work environment by following standards and procedures.
    • Operate and maintain effluent treatment plant and cooking oil storage.
    • Have a full knowledge of Emergency Response Plan to handle emergencies effectively.
    • Verify functionality of Fire Alarm system and perform maintenance checks.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, CMMS System, and Email management.

    Qualifications

    • Must hold a valid 4th Class Power Engineering certification or higher.
    • 1 to 3 years related experience preferred.
    • Able to read blueprints and machinery schematics.
    • Previous PLC knowledge is an asset.
    • Experience in Food Processing & Cooking Meat Facility is advantageous.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

    Tools Required

    Steel toe/rubber boots, Hairnet, Clean smock, Hearing protection, Rubber gloves, Arm sleeves, Safety hats (if required), Safety goggles, General and powered tools.

    Working Conditions

    Exposure to varying conditions, Physically demanding tasks, Prolonged standing/bending/crouching, Exposure to excessive noise.
