About the role
In this role you will further the Mission, Vision, Values and objectives of Canadian Blood Services providing technical expertise to South Central Ontario Supply Chain and to hospital customers in the management and use of blood and blood products.
Key responsibilities include:
- Enhances Canadian Blood Service's ability to meet the needs of customers through using technical expertise to maximize the effective use of inventory.
- Directs Distribution staff in the use and maintenance of specialized inventory.
- Provides technical expertise in a consultant role to Production & Distribution and to the organization as a whole.
- Performs document review.
- Performs work in accordance with the provisions of the Canadian Blood Services' Corporate Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.
- Must be available for Night Shift.
Qualifications:
- Postsecondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferably with a specialty in Transfusion Medicine or Immunohematology.
- Registration with the appropriate provincial licensing body for Medical Laboratory Technologists is required.
- Five years of relevant laboratory experience in transfusion medicine is required.
- Well versed in current Transfusion Medicine practices and trends. Specific knowledge of blood and blood product utilization is required.
- Effective leadership and interpersonal skills demonstrated through communication and coaching.
- Initiative and ability to work independently and as a member of a team member in a multidisciplinary and rapidly changing environment.
- Strong organizational, analytical and effective problemsolving skills are essential.
- A proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers at all levels.
- Experience working in a regulated GMP environment is an advantage.
