Description of Position:
This Position of the Wellness Advocate is to promote employee Wellness through integrated living, healthy choices, and self
- responsibility.
The Wellness Advocate will provide support to our client by creating a safe environment for workers to share their personal stories, struggles and goals regarding wellness outcomes, provide basic medical assessments to support wellness activities and to assist Medcor Canada clinicians when/where appropriate in emergencies.
Providing different perspectives on a situation, or proactive strategies and/or education in a specific area is effective in achieving overall well-being and accomplishing goals, while promoting health through a variety of methods: programming, displays, presentations, collaboration with client, management, and staff.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Attend all training and orientations for Wellness Advocate Program
- Drive and promote the Wellness Program with client and employees through meetings, promotional materials, and presentations
- Contributes to planning, implementation, and evaluation of all wellness activities and events
- Demonstrate selfmotivation and commitment to this position by providing a safe space where people feel comfortable and at ease and facilitate wellness with confidence and authenticity.
- Encourage employees to take selfresponsibility for their health by teaching the concept of wellness through various health programming methods.
- Advocate for and reinforce proactive wellness initiatives on wellness topics such as smoking cessation and nutrition
- Promote and run blood pressure clinics for the employees onsite
- Treat injuries and illnesses following Evidence Based Medicine standards, where appropriate
- Collaborate with client human resources and benefits professionals on medical issues
- Demonstrate leadership skills by being responsible for virtual and inperson one on one and group support sessions, creating presentations on wellness, ensuring accuracy and timelines of intake and follow up documentation.
- Work to foster a culture of collaboration and accountability between Medcor Canada advocates, client associates, vendors, and local health providers to maintain constructive working relationships
Qualifications:
- Saskatchewan license as PCP or LPN is required
- Personal commitment to health and wellness
- Strong and demonstrated leadership skills
- Ability to work independently and as a collaborative team player
- Communication skills, organizational skills, writing skills, and public speaking ability.
- Previous work experience in a health promotion/health education position is desirable.
- Creativity in promoting events and creating events ideas is desirable.
Work Schedule:
The is a Fly in/ Fly out Position working 2 weeks on - 2 weeks off
