We are actively seeking a
Maintenance Project & Turnaround Planner to support our Saskatchewan thermal assets.

Reporting to the Senior Foreman, Maintenance, the Maintenance Project & Turnaround Planner is responsible to plan, execute and schedule facility turnarounds, outages, new construction tie-in work and MOC projects.

This role is accountable for detailed planning, cost estimating and control functions in general to maximize facility equipment availability minimizing production impact, while achieving budgeted targets in a safe, cost effective and efficient manner.


Essential Functions:


  • Ensure effective communication with operations, maintenance, supervisory staff, and other key stakeholders.
  • Assist with identifying and coordinating facility turnarounds and developing outage timelines.
  • Create a detailed project execution plan for facility turnarounds and base capital projects.
  • Facilitate turnaround scope definition meetings via collaboration with operations, maintenance, engineering, the Chief Inspector, and ensure turnaround job plans are developed while considering any regulatory, asset integrity, MOC and operational scope items.
  • Plan projects using Prometheus and Maximo identifying resources, materials and durations required to execute jobs efficiently.
  • Create detailed task completion schedule for all items within scope.
  • Identify all required LOTO's and isolations.
  • Prepare and distribute vendor bid packages for multiple disciplines as required.
  • Review bids and vendor selection with key stakeholders to procure services and materials.
  • Provide a budget with spend profile and maintain spend forecast throughout duration of the project.
  • Provide cost control for projects within scope.
  • Provide regular progress updates of turnaround planning and project execution.
  • Ensure that the Asset Integrity inspection timelines are adhered to, and all pressure and process equipment maintenance complies with current engineering standards and TSASK Legislation.
  • Effectively track project performance, measure against predetermined KPIs and make recommendations for improving turnaround planning and execution.
  • Capture all actuals and lessons learned to ensure they are reflected in project plans and drive continuous improvement.
  • Provide in field supervision of job execution as required.
  • Ensure all documentation and records are received and maintained in the appropriate location.

Qualifications Include:


  • Skills and Knowledge:_
  • Understanding of maintenance/operations as it relates to safe and efficient production in a thermal asset.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of Cost Control and Document Control functions.
  • Strong level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, and construction work processes.
  • Knowledge of repair and mitigating maintenance practices in both a thermal and unconventional environment.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships and work within a team environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent reporting skills combined with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in with Microsoft Office.
  • Working knowledge of a Computer Centralized Maintenance System (CCMS). Maximo is an asset.
  • Communicate effectively with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate flexible/innovative thinking skills.
  • Selfmotivated, open minded and results orientated.
  • Adaptable to be able to change focus and/or priorities on a moment's notice
  • Education and Experience:_
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience in project planning/scheduling or field related construction experience.
  • 5 years of Thermal SAGD and Unconventional operations, maintenance, and construction activities.
  • Knowledge of repair and mitigating maintenance practices in both a thermal and unconventional environment.
  • Experience with change control management.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license required.

Work Environment:


  • Based out of the Lloydminster Strathcona office with frequent field visits as required.
  • Normal work schedules are 8hour days, 5 days on shift and 2 days off.
