Are you a dynamic Human Resource professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment? Are you known for your ideas and high level of quality in all People & Culture initiatives? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a People & Culture Manager at Smythe LLP (Smythe).

We are looking for an experienced self-starter to join the Smythe team and play a crucial role in shaping our company culture, fostering a positive work environment, and developing our most valuable asset—our people.

You will help create and lead the implementation of strategic People & Culture initiatives, enhance employee engagement, and promote a strong organizational culture.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY

  • Develop, review, and update HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Oversee the onboarding process for new hires, facilitating a smooth transition and integration into the organization.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees on HRrelated matters, providing guidance and support.
  • Address employee concerns, conflicts, and grievances, ensuring fair and consistent resolution.
  • Promote positive employee relations, foster a healthy work environment, and enforce company policies.
  • Provide guidance to managers and employees on performancerelated issues and improvement plans.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes employee engagement.
  • Develop and implement initiatives to enhance employee morale, motivation, and teamwork.
  • Manage the Human Capital Management System (HCMS) and ensure accurate and uptodate employee data.
  • Utilize HR metrics and analytics to track and measure HR effectiveness and make datadriven decisions.
  • Prepare regular reports on HR activities, such as recruitment, turnover, training, and employee satisfaction.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
  • Conduct employee surveys and provide analysis and recommendations based on results.
  • Lead the talent management process, including managing our performance review cycle, implementing performance improvement plans and assisting our leadership team with succession planning efforts.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and ensure confidentiality of employee information.
  • Collaborate with the management team to develop and implement employee retention strategies.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Degree in Business or Human Resource Management or related discipline.
  • 3+ years in a professional services environment.
  • At least 3 years of experience in the field of Human Resources.
  • CPHR designation.
  • CPA designation is preferred but not a requirement.
  • Education in industrial psychology is preferred but not a requirement.
  • A solid understanding of BC employment standards.
  • Strong computer and technical skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, HRIS systems, database management, use of AI and data analytic tools etc.).
  • Functional grounding in all areas of Human Resources, i.e., employee relations, performance management, compensation, recruiting, HRIS, and HR processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Selfmotivated and strong project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish effective relationships with stakeholders and staff at all levels.
  • Proven ability to influence and provide guidance to employees and managers on a broad range of employment and employee matters.
  • Thrive in a fastpaced and resultdriven environment.

  • Ability to execute all tasks with a high degree of confidentiality, tact and diplomacy.
