  • About PotashBHP's Jansen Potash Project located approximately 140 km east of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan is BHP's first and most advanced potash project. Jansen will add diversity and a Canadian presence to BHP's global portfolio. Jansen's large resource endowment provides the opportunity to develop it in stages, with anticipated initial capacity of 4.35 Mtpa. The BHP Board has recently sanctioned Jansen Project (Stage 1), with a US $5.7 billion investment. The project is now entering the construction phase, with the first potash expected in PurposeThe Specialist, Operations Readiness & Procurement contributes to the preparation for and execution of the operational readiness strategy. The strategy relates to the purchasing, payments, and cataloguing of goods and services for the Potash Operation.
  • About the RoleIn this role, you will:
  • Work with stakeholders to collate business requirements for operational readiness as input to operational readiness strategy.
  • Manage contract execution and analysis to maximize operational and financial performance and mitigate exposure and risk.
  • Process invoice and service entry sheet payments, reconcile goods received against invoices received, and resolve vendor queries to achieve timely and accurate payment processing.
  • Facilitate payment of materials and services of the right quality, in the right quantity, at the right place, from the right source and at the right time.
  • Obtain the Lowest Total Cost of Ownership for goods and services, value, and quality using market research, supplier evaluation, and factbased negotiation to meet business objectives.
  • Source information, plans, and conduct analysis to support evidencebased decision making.
  • Gain support for and negotiate outcomes that achieve mutually beneficial goals.
  • Mitigate people, environmental and community risks across the value chain, in alignment with social value, sustainability, and public policy considerations.
  • Support the management of vendor / customer selection, contracts, and performance to maximize operational and financial outcomes and mitigate BHP's exposure to risk.
  • Work LocationDowntown, Saskatoon; Hybrid working (flexible, shared workstations and a combination of office and work from home) is standard for BHP.
  • About YouTo be considered, you will need:
  • A bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience in contract formation and management for Operations.
  • Procurement experience in services, corporate, and project environments.
  • 57+ years of relevant Operations and/or Supply Chain Management experience.
  • An understanding of workplace safety standards with good judgement for safety observations.

You will also:

  • Be comfortable working autonomously and leveraging new systems and technologies to solve problems, manage issues and deliver outcomes.
  • Be fluent with Microsoft Office suite, especially data analysis in Excel.
  • Be able to develop long term strategies and deliver continuous process improvement.
  • Be capable of influencing others to deliver shared objectives in a professional environment.
  • Preferably have a certificate in Supply Chain Management and experience in a mining / fertilizer industry, with exposure to SAP.
