Compensation Range

$5, $7,878.17 CAD Monthly

In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range for a job.

Job Summary


The Research Coordinator will provide research facilitation and coordination for ongoing projects, as well as contribute to the development and execution of new research projects.

This will largely focus on a CIHR-funded program of research examining impacts of policy and practice change on reproductive population health using quantitative methods from epidemiology and health policy and patient-oriented research methods to engage patients, policy and system leaders, and clinicians throughout the research.

This includes studies on optimal pregnancy spacing, abortion safety and access, contraception access, early pregnancy loss, and methodological work to create conception cohorts using population-based administrative health data.

The Research Coordinator will participate in grant administration; conduct background research and literature reviews; liaise with analysts from the Pharmaceutical Sciences DASI Unit

Organizational Status


The Collaboration for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (CORE) is the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science's multidisciplinary group of outcomes researchers specializing in epidemiology, health economics, health services research, and pharmacy practice research.

Research conducted by CORE faculty members is directly aligned with the Faculty's Health Outcomes theme. The Research Coordinator will report directly to the Principal Investigator of this research group within CORE, Dr. Laura Schummers

Work Performed


Project management:

  • Determine project objectives and design project proposal.
  • Develop and implement project work plans and timelines.
  • Use project management tools to maintain project timelines, documents, and milestones for the investigator team.
  • Oversee a list of ongoing manuscripts and analyses.
  • Coordinate and support meetings of investigators, staff, and/or trainees.
  • Manage the submission and review of manuscripts to scholarly journals. Make decisions regarding content of manuscripts and manage the submission and review of manuscripts to scholarly journals.
  • Develop and manage research program budgeting and forecasting, reconciling with grant budgets.
  • Lead reporting to granting agencies, collaborate with PI on submission.
  • Identify and execute knowledge translation activities.

Research:

  • Gather, review, and synthesize literature relevant to research projects.
  • Review/Revise analytic plans for research studies, primarily using populationbased health administrative data.
  • Create and manage data requests to populationbased data stewards (eg Population Data BC, Perinatal Services BC, Health Data Research Network).
  • Liaise with analysts from the Pharmaceutical Sciences DASI Unit ) to develop analytic plans and interpret observations and findings using population data.
  • Analyze data and interpret observations and findings.
  • Design and develop formats for data assembly, analysis, and presentation.
  • Draft manuscripts for submission to peerreviewed journals.
  • Draft abstracts, reports, and conference submissions and presentations.
  • Coordinate, support, and manage a reproductive health patient advisory council, including recruiting members, facilitating programwide and projectspecific patient engagement activities, supporting patient and public partners as needed to engage in research meetings and pursue professional development activities.
  • Present research results at academic conferences and stakeholder meetings.
  • Responsible for quality of research and results

Communications:

  • Update the team members on progress with manuscripts.
  • Coordinate communications amongst team members, including planning and management of project meetings, conference calls, and workshops.
