Summer Juniors Program at ILSC Montreal

DURATION OF PROGRAM: 6 weeks, July 2 to August 13, 2023
(Pre-program staff training from June 28-June 30, 2023)


ILSC Education Group is seeking an experienced, qualified and dynamic leader to take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of our Juniors Camp program at ILSC Montreal.

Our Camp programs combine academics, accommodation and activities for our young students ages 13 to 17.

The Junior Camp Program Manager is responsible for coordinating and collaborating with these separate departments to ensure our students receive a cohesive, quality summer program experience.

This is a key management role. The Juniors Camp Program Manager role is a full-time, fixed term position. Due to the nature of the work, your hours may vary and may be irregular.


The schedule timeline and hourly requirements are as follows:

  • Full time hours on-site will begin on June 28, 2023, until August 13, 202
  • Pre-program staff training will take place from June 28, 2023, to June 30, 202
  • Remuneration is $1050/week

Duties and Responsibilities

Program Set-Up and Closure

Recruitment

  • In collaboration with the Director of Juniors Programs, will participate in the interviewing and hiring of the Residential Onsite Program Manager at McGill and the Activities Coordination for the McGill and downtown Montreal Juniors Programs
  • In collaboration with the Residential Onsite Program Manager at McGill and the Activities Coordinator, will lead the interviewing and hiring of the activity leaders for both the Montreal Residential Juniors Program at Mcgill and the Juniors program at ILSC Montreal
  • Support on recruitment and training of Juniors and Groups related staff as required

Planning

  • In advance of summer program start date and, in collaboration with all departments, inventory program and curriculum materials for the Montreal Juniors Programs such as Tshirts for students and staff, bus transportation cards, SIM cards if required, lanyards etc.
  • Lead preparations and arrange all activity bookings for the Montreal Juniors Program including obtaining quotes, creating/updating reservations and managing the budgeting and invoicing of these bookings
  • In collaboration with the Director of Junior Programs, create and manage policies, procedures, and support systems for the Toronto Juniors Program

Program Management

  • Oversee the Activity component of the Montreal Juniors Program
  • In collaboration with the registrations team, prepare weekly intake lists. Oversee weekly orientations for new intake of students
  • Initiate weekly meetings with registrations, accommodations, activities, and academic department heads
  • Responsible for scheduling staff for all Juniors and Groups activities
  • Lead daily communication with the Residential Onsite Program Manager at McGill and the Activities Coordinator to provide support and address any issues or concerns quickly
  • Provide weekly written program status reports to Director of Juniors Programs and Director of ILSC Montreal
  • Develop end of program report providing an overall assessment and recommendations for improvement for both the residential and homestay Montreal Juniors Programs
  • Ensure that all ILSC rules, procedures and directives are understood and adhered to in full by all Juniors Program staff and students
  • In collaboration with the Residential Onsite Program Manager at McGill and the Activities Coordinator, assess staff performance/success and provide support as required

Student and Staff Supervision and Support

  • Plan and lead student orientations, ensuring that students have a clear understanding of staff roles, school rules and disciplinary procedures
  • Ensure the safety and welfare of the students, managing any student or staff welfare issues during the program including student illness and staff/accommodation issues and advising the Director of Junior Programs and Director of ILSC Montreal, as appropriate
  • Oversee student discipline as required, in line with ILSC policies
  • Manage student attendance and participation in all aspects of the program
  • Collaborate with student advising team to ensure student satisfaction/support
  • Schedule weekly meetings with Group Leaders (chaperones accompanying a group of students employed by travel agency) and to ensure program satisfaction
  • Schedule weekly meetings with students who did not travel as part of a group, to gauge satisfaction and provide support as needed
  • Distribute, collect, and summarize student feedback forms

Skills and Attributes

Essential

  • Experience managing a team in either an educational setting, camp, or recreational environment
  • 3+ years' experience working with children and teenagers
  • Experience with program management
  • Strong organizat
