Position Objective:
  • Lead the development and implementation of the Technical Training and Qualification strategy for all Aftersales Technical training activities to the PCL Dealer Network.
  • Ensure that all curriculum meet Porsche, AG (PAG) and PCL certification standards and exceeds KPI criteria. This position will constantly develop a blended Technical Training Strategy to provide training offers to the PCL Dealer Network, addressing identified training needs for Technicians in the PCL Dealer Network
  • Collaborate effectively with PAG, representatives of the international training community and training vendors to expand the depth and scope of the curriculums (incl. localization) to ensure training is evolving with, and adapting to the changing technologies, repair methods and diagnosis.
  • Introduce innovative techniques to deliver training effectively and efficiently utilizing new technologies.

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Leading and coaching the technical training team, managing the PCL national technical training centre facility in Mississauga, ON.
  • Present results, recommendations and project reports to the Director, Aftersales and PCL Executive Committee.
  • Manage the oversight and strategic direction to the PCL Technical Training Curriculum in conceptualizing, developing, localizing and implementing all technical skills for technicians.
  • Ensure that resources reflect Porsche standards. Create yearly program plan and ensure that resources are staffed accordingly and budget is allocated appropriately. Furthermore, manage the sourcing of all facilitators, trainers and curriculum developers.
  • Ensure instructor skills are at the forefront of adult learning theory via participation in PAG Global Qualification programs.
  • Oversee Key Performance Indicator (KPI) data collection process. Ensure that programs are refined based on data findings
  • Manage the "Zertifizierter Porsche Techniker (ZPT) program" and ensure market KPI's are met.
Maintain accurate course enrollment and completion records through the Porsche Academy Learning Management System (PALMS)

  • Interact with PAG counterparts to maximize utilization of global technical training curriculum. Serve as representative for PCL Technical Training team to assure PCL market needs are represented and understood. Serve as communicator to return information to PCL and disseminate information and material to the correct PCL/PAG individuals.
  • Manage, and be accountable for the technical training department budget including the collection and allocation of Dealer funds. Ensure these funds are spent effectively and efficiently, delivering value to the Dealer Network.
  • Coordinate timely ordering and disposal of training vehicle fleet so that vehicle models and options always match curriculum requirements, and depreciation is minimized.
  • Responsible for departmental compliance with IT security, document retention, and business confidentiality policies.
  • Procure training aids, special tools and laptops as required to support the instructors and curriculum. Dispose of training aids according to financial guidelines.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree required in Education, Business Management, Communications, Automotive Technology, or a similarly appropriate concentration.
  • MBA preferred.

Experience (Job and Industry):

  • 8+ years of experience including the following:
  • 5+ years managing an adult training program with a diverse curriculum.
  • Automotive technical experience, preferably as a technician or retail automotive manager
  • Experience working in a private sector, corporate environment

Skills:


  • Comprehensive knowledge of fundamental business practices and concepts that influence the success and profitability of a corporation, including strategic planning, resource allocation, financial controls, KPI development, leadership techniques, human resource management, and efficiency and process methods.
  • Substantial knowledge of automotive retail operations. Porsche preferred.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design including adult learning theory, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
  • Ability to develop a departmental team concept, motivating each member to their maximum potential to achieve business goals.
  • Outstanding oral and written communications skills and the ability to confidently interact with and present to senior management.
