    The Job Summary:

    The Clinical Scholar RPNrole reports to the Manager of Organizational Development and Learning, collaboratingwith the organizational development and learning team to provide and promoteongoing professional development to nursing staff in response to identifieddepartmental and individual learning needs. Integrating best practices andusing evidenced-based programs, the Clinical Scholar RPN will use comprehensiveadult education principles to achieve continuous quality improvements inclinical practice, patient outcomes, and the provision of quality client care.

    Key Accountabilities &Success Criteria:

    · Provide on-unit support to new nurses include nursing graduates,internationally educated nurses (IENs) and nurses looking to upskill,supporting their transition into the workforce.

    · Provide mentorship and timely feedback on practice competence for theabove-noted groups.

    · Collaborates with nursing leadership on the clinical units andOrganizational Development and Learning (OD&L) team to complete competencyevaluations and determine development opportunities for new learners.

    · Demonstrate critical thinking in the nursing process while collectingand interpreting data, planning, implementing, and evaluating all aspects ofnursing care.

    · Has the knowledge, skill and judgment needed to provide competentguidance and mentorship that aligns with evidence-based nursing practice andthat complies with the College of Nurses of Ontario Standards of Practice.

    · Contributes to a transparent culture of client and staff safety byadhering to and abiding by patient and staff safety policies and procedures setby Saint Joseph's Health Care Guelph (SJHCG).

    · Promotes an environment that encourages and supports change, incollaboration with the OD+L team.

    · Evaluates the effectiveness of mentoring and uses feedback to revisementoring approach support successful program changes.

    · Responsible for demonstrating their responsibility and commitment topatient and staff safety by complying with all SJHCG policies and proceduresrelated to staff and patient safety, including the identification of nearmisses or actual incidents where patient or staff safety are at risk.

    · Familiarity with the Health and Safety policies such as Safe FootwearPolicy, Scent Reduced Policy, Musculoskeletal Injury prevention program (MIPP)policy, Safety-engineered Medical Devices, and Conflict management for clientswith physically aggressive behaviours.

    Qualifications:


    • Current certificate of competence from the Collegeof Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN)


    • Minimum of five (5) years of complex continuingcare, palliative care, or rehabilitation clinical experience with demonstratedclinical expertise.

    Skills & Abilities:


    • Basiccardiac life support.


    • Previousexperience teaching, working with clinical learners and/or precepting.


    • Excellentclinical skills and competencies.


    • Well-developedskills in assessing learning needs and developing and evaluating educationaland quality improvement programs.


    • Demonstratedleadership, change management, problem-solving, critical-thinking andcommunication skills.


    • Demonstratedcommitment to continuing education activities supporting ongoing professionallearning in nursing.


    • Experiencein the application of adult education principles.


    • Experiencewith using a variety of creative learning techniques and presentation skills.


    • Proficientwith computer software applications.


    • Familiarwith CNO Entry to Practice Competencies and Professional Nursing Standards.


    • GPAor non-violent crisis intervention an asset

    Rate of Pay: $34.45-$35.97
