The Emergency Health Regulatory and Accountability Branch is committed to ensuring that all Ontarians have access to quality pre-hospital medical care and safe, efficient transportation to and from health facilities.

With the help of our service partners, we make certain that pre-hospital health-care services and medically essential ambulance services between health-care centres are delivered in accordance with legislation and standards.


We are seeking a qualified individual interested in providing technical, advisory and inspection services in relation to regulatory compliance and operational maintenance for ambulances and emergency response vehicles.

What can I expect to do in this role?: In this role you will:

  • Provide support and recommendations to service operators during the fleet acquisition process from requisition to delivery.
  • Provide inspection services and expertise to service partners and advise on repair and maintenance problems and accident prevention programs (for Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) chassis as well as Emergency vehicle conversions).
  • Liaise with clients, ministry staff and suppliers.
  • Generate a variety of reports related to vehicle inspections and maintenance.
Please note this position requires extensive travel.


How do I qualify?:


Mandatory:


Technical knowledge:


  • You have knowledge of vehicle mechanics, electrical functions, operations and design of vehicles.
  • You have knowledge of vehicle and equipment inspection practices to inspect and evaluate vehicle conditions, equipment performance and maintenance.
  • You have the ability to interpret specifications, drawings, schematics and diagrams relating to vehicle conversion.
  • You have knowledge of contract administration, including an understanding of service/repair contracts and warranty issues.

Communication and consultation skills:


  • You have oral communication and consultation skills to liaise and consult extensively with internal and external clients.
  • You have written communications skills to prepare technical documentation and reports.

Analytical and organizational skills:


  • You have analytical, reasoning and critical thinking skills to determine information required to resolve technical problems and consult on required improvements.
  • You have organization and coordination skills to manage multiple activities concurrently and meet deadlines.

Computer skills:


  • You can operate computer software to prepare a variety of documentation and reports.
