Job Summary:

The City of Guelph Recreation Division offers a variety of recreational programs for people of all ages and abilities in weekly sessions throughout the year.

We offer a variety of programs at various locations including but not limited to, the West End Community Centre, Victoria Road Recreation Centre, Evergreen Seniors Community Centre, Guelph Sports Dome and Shelldale Family Gateway.

Hours of Work
2-6 hours per week per program plus additional hours available.

All programs include a minimum of 15 minutes for preparation and 15 minutes for take down and program planning time.

Programs we are hiring for may be on weekdays, weeknights or weekends.

We are looking for qualified instructors to teach in the following areas/skill sets:

Cooking Programs:

All instructors must acquire the food handler certification prior to the start of work and be confident teaching children/youth kitchen safety, healthy eating habits, and instructional lessons on baking and/or cooking, including icing techniques.

Sports and Recreation:
Responsible for conducting instructional lessons for weekly classes or drop-in programs assigned to recreation programming.

Duties

Create a welcoming environment for all participants
Plan and develop 6 weeks of program plans
Ensure facilities and equipment are maintained and kept in an acceptable, safe condition
Communicate with the program team
Provide standard first aid and fill out incident/accident forms
Provide enthusiastic and creative programming
Provide fully inclusive program to participants of all abilities and skill levels
Ensure participant confidentiality
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
Ability to respect and maintain participant confidentiality
Previous experience working with children and youth
Previous experience in program planning, development, and implementation
Skills and experience related to programs listed above
A satisfactory Police Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Check is required at time of offer
Valid Standard First Aid with CPR Level C
Safe Food Handler's Certificate for all cooking programs
Full availability is required for scheduled program day and time

Rate
$19.44 per hour
