- BSW or BA and two years related experience, or a combination of education and five yeas related experience.
- Knowledge related to areas of substance abuse, family violence, child maltreatment, and child development.
- Strong oral and written communication.
- Current certification in CPR and emergency First Aid is an asset.

- Implement and coordinate a range of cultural events and programs at various location throughout the region.
- Complete Cultural Plans in coordination with assigned workers, caregivers, children, youth, families and others.
- Teach and mentor children, youth and others about traditional practices and their significance.
- Identify program and service gaps and inform supervisor
- Identifies resource needs, provides rationale, for expenditures staying within budgets.
- Complete documentation including referral forms, daily contact notes, letters, and memos.

- Coordinate and plan cultural events including booking space, purchasing supplies and creating event posters.

- Traveling throughout the region facilitating cultural events and activities.

- Connect children and families to local cultural resources (regional MMF offices, locals etc)
- Be aware of upcoming cultural events and activities occurring within our service regions and sharing that information with workers and families.
- Develop and maintain a resource list of cultural people, resources and other Elders / Knowledge Keepers available to the Agency.
- Lead and connect youth with events and outings that will highlight the history and traditions of Metis people.

FULL TIME, PERMANENT POSITION -

Location: Dauphin, MB
Under the supervision of the Support Supervisor the Cultural Coordinator will provide direct and indirect cultural services to children, youth and families as well as to the Agency and staff in order to develop and enhance the cultural service practice of the Agency. Working with the Elder and Manitoba Metis Federation, the Cultural Coordinator will develop and deliver locally accepted cultural events and practices for the Agency in consultation with community Elders and cultural practitioners to facilitate preservation and promotion of traditional practices to enhance positive and strong cultural identity. The Cultural Coordinator will provide education and training to Agency staff, communities and external partners regarding cultural values, beliefs, traditions and perspectives on individual, family and community life.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prior to commencing employment the successful applicant will be asked to provide satisfactory results of a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, a Child Abuse Registry Check, and Prior Contact Check at their own expense. A valid Manitoba driver's license and the use of a personal vehicle are requisites as travel is required.
