Job Summary:


Reporting to the Manager, Pension Payroll, the Senior Analyst is tasked with execution activities to support the consistent and timely service delivery of the payroll functions.

In addition, the role includes execution and delivery of the legislative annual and transactional tax slips and includes working with Member Services, Finance, IT and other partners.


Major responsibilities include (1) Execution of Payroll functions in Plan Operations, but not limited to, Retired monthly pension payments, death and terminations pay-outs, and member tax slips (2) Responsibility for executing according to the project plan or annual schedule with the ability to adjust when needed, along with superior communication skills cross-divisionalonal coordination and issue resolution and analysis.

(3) Regular input to reconciliation reporting development and ability to report on the progress via manual or automated means; and (4) Additional team processes are supported throughout the year that covers many facets of member upkeep on records as it relates to financial analysis and reporting on these processes.


Responsibilities will also include assisting in the planning and execution of team payroll processes, ensuring adherence to production schedules and quality standards, and validation of process outputs to ensure the overall accuracy and quality of payroll executions.

The incumbent is also responsible for planning and organizing workloads, consulting on the relationships between payroll and ongoing member processing, reviewing and supporting the overall effectiveness of payroll and financial operations.


The Senior Analyst, Pension Operations will contribute to the department's success by assisting the Manager in planning and identifying challenges as they arise.

The incumbent will provide feedback and serve as a resource person to projects in support and collaboration with product and design, member services, actuarial solutions, data and calculation support, policy, information technology and finance.

The Senior Analyst Pension Operations role may involve hours outside the regular workday to ensure coverage throughout production.

At times, extended hours may be required to meet deadlines, and individuals may be on-call during weekends and peak production season.


What you will do:


Responsible for executing weekly/monthly payrolls and completing payroll-related activities- Validate monthly and weekly payrolls and complete activities in line with the planned pension payroll calendar.- Resolve payroll issues by collaborating with Finance to ensure all payments are made on time as part of HOOPP's fiduciary obligation and our commitment to deliver on the pension promise.- Perform pre-monthly and weekly payroll reviews, collaborating with other teams within Plan Operations as required to resolve any discrepancies identified prior to the payroll run.- Advise the Pension Payroll Manager of all issues and recommend mitigations before approving the payroll case.- Work directly with Actuarial Services to consider any benefits revaluation or special projects that would result in additional volumes in a particular weekly/monthly payroll.- Reconcile and prepare a list of OPGT (The Office of the Public Guardian & Trustee) members receiving direct deposit monthly pension payments from HOOPP.- Prepare annual payroll calendar, ensuring all payroll activities are captured without any conflicts in schedule.

Set up monthly and weekly pay cycles in Ariel Pay accurately to ensure that the system automatically initiates payrolls.- Update the online payroll calendar to provide timelines for the different processes and paymen
