Quality Assurance Technician

Reporting to:
Quality Assurance Supervisor

Shift:
Monday - Friday 6:00am - 2:30pm

Wage:
$TBD based on education and experience


Under the direction of the Quality Assurance Supervisor, the
Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for daily monitoring and verification of food safety and quality parameters in the processing of plant-based meat alternative products.

The QA Tech is primarily responsible for product inspection, compliance with all testing and sampling programs, and ensuring GMP and HACCP standards are followed as per No Meat Factory's Quality
Management System.


Main Responsibilities

  • Monitor process, personnel, and equipment to ensure compliance to established standards and requirements, and report noncompliances
  • Environmental monitoring (swabbing) and other sampling as per sampling plans
  • Issuance of production and packaging records
  • Issuance of labels and complete label control forms
  • Daily weigh scale verification
  • Member of the HACCP team
  • Responsible for CCP Metal detector setup and verification
  • Conduct monthly GMP and Sanitation audits
  • Ongoing monitoring of GMPs and adherence to chemical control, metal control, glass & brittle plastic control, instrument calibration
  • Allergen verification and ensuring that allergen management procedures are adhered to
  • Traceability verification
  • Collection and review of all paperwork, verification and signoff, and filing
  • Data entry into QMS documentation
  • Release of raw materials
  • Administrate Product Holds
  • Measuring instrument calibration
  • Issuance and assistance in completion of NCRs
  • QA sample administration
  • Product and materials testing
  • Stocktake on quality consumables
  • Support customer trials as defined in the trial preparation
  • Identify, investigate, and report any nonconformances and assist with implementation of corrective actions
  • Liaise with other departments to ensure that quality and food safety standards are met on a daily basis
(assist other departments as needed)

  • Assist in training of food production employees in GMPs, SOPs and Food Safety/HACCP plans
  • Participate and assist in internal and external audits
  • Contribute to the continual improvement of food safety and quality protocols
  • Follow all Food Safety, HACCP, Quality and Operational procedures (SOPs) as defined in NMF's Quality
Management System

  • Assist the Quality Assurance Supervisor and the Vice President of Quality and Innovation as required
  • Perform other related duties as required.
  • Deputy for other Quality Assurance Technicians.

Qualifications, Skills, and Requirements

  • Post-Secondary Education (B.Sc. or College Diploma) in Food Technology/Food Science or other related field preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year Quality Assurance/ Quality Control experience in food manufacturing or other relevant industries preferred
  • Strong knowledge of food safety (HACCP) and Quality Management Systems
  • Must be proficient using Microsoft Office
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, and collaboration skills with coworkers and managers
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with mínimal supervision as well as in a crossdepartmental team environment
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and perform physical tasks
  • Strong organizational and problemsolving skills
  • Ability to integrate into a workplace culture of respect, kindness, teamwork and cooperation
