The Indigenous Studies program is a dynamic and growing program that is focused on Indigenous futurities, decentering colonial narratives and institutional power, and land-based learning.

In the Indigenous Studies Program at Carleton University, we reshape what it means to do Indigenous research. We centre our research around the knowledge-making practices of the specific communities we work with.

Through courses and hands-on experiences, our students learn about Indigenous struggles and resistances, genders and sexualities, arts and culture, and more.

We challenge all our students to think about their own relationships to Indigenous peoples and lands both, domestically and within a global context.

The Indigenous Studies program plays a crucial role in transforming teaching and learning in line with the priorities identified in the Kinàmàgawin report, which provides the structure and basis for Carleton's ongoing decolonial project.
