SD47 Mental Health Coordinator Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual as a Mental Health Coordinator for elementary
schools in Powell River. This position is pivotal in supporting the mental health and well-being of our students, in
role in creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for our students by promoting positive mental
health, trauma informed, and social emotional learning practices.
Responsibilities
- Work with schools to foster a positive and inclusive school climate through the promotion of mental health
- Work collaboratively with teachers to support the implementation of evidencebased mental health, social
Strategy.
- Work with educators to strengthen the tools and resources needed to embed mental health and wellbeing
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of mental health programs and resources, making recommendations
- Collaboratively analyze local data sources with school teams to identify emerging trends and determine
Job Requirements
- A Bachelors' Degree in education or equivalent.
- Preference will be given to those who have a Master's in Education (M.A. or M.Ed.) or a related field.
- Preference will be given to those who have a minimum of three (3) years of experience providing mental

- Skill and knowledge of facilitation, positive communication, and creative thinking.
- Skills in working with students experiencing significant social, emotional, and behavioral issues.
