Position ProfileWe are currently looking for a Manufacturing Painter to join our growing team in Sidney, BC (YYJ).

This position is part of the Unifor Local 114 bargaining unit. The successful applicant for this role will receive training appropriate to their area.Duties & Responsibilities
- Capable of meeting all DOT, Viking Air and customer quality requirements
- Monitor stock of commonly used items to ensure adequate stocking levels
- Able to assist in the training, direction and supervision of junior Employees
- Able to work quickly, safely and with minimum supervision and fully aware of all Health and Safety hazards
- Able to estimate and plan work on time and on budget
- Able to perform paint stripping, corrosion removal, cleaning and preparation for any coatings
- Able to prime and topcoat in accordance with Manufacturer's specifications and customer requirements
- Able to prime and topcoat large surfaces
- Able to prime large surfaces and topcoat small surfaces
- Maintaining a clean work area, and alerting their Supervisor of any safety concerns
- Be responsible to their assigned Charge Hand
- Any other duties assigned
- Canadian provincial or interprovincial aircraft and/or automotive painter ticket including CCAA
- Aviation Painter, ITAC, or equivalent ticket from another country is considered an asset
- Experience working in an industrial facility with a safety mindset
Skills:
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to perform extremely detailed work
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Ability to read and understand complex drawings, blueprints, and work instructions
- Good planning and organizational skills
- Shift work will be required based on shiftbid, seniority and company requirements
- Work to be performed in noisy and often warm production areas, including working with chemicals — all PPE is required at all times
- Occasionally required to lift heavy objects up to 40 lbs
