Description

Reporting to the Service Design Planner, Transit, this co-op position provides support to the planning, implementation and monitoring of Milton Transit services.

This position collaborates with internal staff teams to conduct research and provide analytical support to the Transit Division for completion of required tasks and deliverables.


Major Job Responsibilities

  • Support the analysis of ridership, demographic, land use and geographic data
  • Assist with maintaining GISbased bus stop inventory and map networks (i


e:

bus routes)

  • Conduct field investigations as they relate to Milton Transit including site inspections and field surveys; document passenger amenities inventory
  • Provide support in maintaining Milton Transit's concrete pad program
  • Provide a variety of administrative and technical services to support the business which may include preparing reports, memos, documents; sorting, collating and filing
  • Develop spreadsheets, forms, and databases to input, track, store and retrieve data
  • Maintain and update electronic filing systems and provide record management services
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to collect data, respond to queries and exchange information
  • Help produce operational documentation and reports
  • Perform assigned technical, professional and administrative duties
  • Provide assistance and support to staff in a variety of areas, including gathering, inputting, organizing, and interpreting data for reports, presentations and meetings
  • Assist in the production and formatting of operational documentation (e.g. publicfacing and internal timetables)
  • Recommend improvements to existing processes to achieve greater efficiency
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Currently enrolled in a Planning, Geography, Transportation, or related program at a postsecondary institution. Students must be enrolled in a fulltime program and returning to school for the 2023 Fall semester.
  • Valid Ontario G Driver's License in good standing
  • Excellent written, oral communication skills and interpersonal skills are required
  • Experience with ArcGIS and R Studio programs is considered an asset
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and assist coworkers with projects
  • Interest in transportation and transit/operational planning
  • A willingness to learn while being exposed to all aspects of Operational Planning & Service Design
