Your Opportunity:
The Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education (KPE) Human Resources Office provides a full range of HR services to approximately 200 appointed faculty and staff in addition to, approximately 900+ casual staff.
Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the HR Coordinator_ _is responsible for providing a full range of front-line human resource, benefits and payroll services to the staff, faculty and management of the Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education.
The HR Coordinator_ _acts as the primary contact for general human resources, benefits and payroll inquiries and plays a fundamental role in establishing and promoting this full-service divisional Human Resources Office to the Faculty.
Your Responsibilities will Include:
The incumbent is responsible for accurately advising all members of the Faculty about human resources procedures and for the accurate and timely processing of human resource information including the timely and accurate processing of payroll and benefits on the HRIS system for appointed staff, faculty, athletic instructors, teaching assistants, sessional instructors, course instructors, post-doctoral fellows, cross-appointed faculty and non-unionized staff.
Key responsibilities include:
payroll processing, providing frontline benefits information, orientation and advice; providing HRIS advice and support; responding to basic inquiries related to applicable collective agreements and HR policies and practices; preparing job postings based on a thorough understanding of the position requirements and needs of the department; posting positions and arranging for all external advertising; administering the sick leave, vacation leave, short term disability claims, and accommodation for employees in the faculty; preparing routine correspondence; providing administrative support to the HR and senior leadership team; producing various reports for administrative and academic analysis; and conducting research and compiling data in support of special projects.
Qualifications:
Education:
University degree required. Formal training in human resources is required. Working towards completing the CHRP designation. Completion of PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) is an asset.
Experience:
- Minimum three (3) years related human resources experience in various functional areas
- Minimum three years experience processing payroll in SAP or a similar HRIS
- Specialized knowledge of benefit and payroll policies, procedures and processes, preferably in a University environment
- Demonstrated experience working with databases and/or HRIS/Payroll systems
- Sound knowledge of legislation relevant to employment practices and payroll administration

- Excellent documentation skills

- Flexibility and ability to easily adapt to change; professional, proactive and client service orientation
- Ability to exercise sound judgment; superior communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proficient computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

- Ability to balance the competing demands of routine work with the special requirements of projects
- Initiative; ability to work under pressure
- Ability to pay close attention to detail and accuracy as well as maintain a broad perspective of the organization
This role is currently eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, pursuant to the University policies and guidelines, including but not limited to the University of Toronto's Alternative Work Arrangements Guideline.
