ProTrans BC Operations Ltd., a subsidiary of SNC-Lavalin Group Inc., is the private operator of the Canada Line, a 19-km automated rail-based rapid transit system connecting Downtown Vancouver with central Richmond and the Vancouver International Airport.

Our fleet of trains provide a 26-minute terminus-to-terminus service to an average weekday ridership of more than 120,000 passengers across 16 stations.

Our operations office is in Richmond, British Columbia.

This role will be based in
Richmond, BC.

Your role within the team:


  • Supervise service contractors' and technicians' work and ensure the work is performed according to safe work plans, schedule and is completed to required standards. Ensure all necessary tools and materials for scheduled maintenance requirements and special projects are available in stock and kitted for work assignments.
  • Prepare work schedules and assign special projects and repairs by priority daily.
  • Manage projects adhering to work schedules and budgets.
  • Respond to emergency incidents day or night and prepare reports.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, safe work practices and coordinate monthly departmental safety meetings.
  • Assist with the implementation of policies, procedures, and programs, both routine and emergency, relating to scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, repair and new installations of railway systems and provide feedback on status of work and effectiveness.
  • Manage performance and competency levels of individuals and team.
  • Participate in incident investigations and implement necessary corrective actions as required.
  • Develop and deliver various onthejob and classroom training sessions.
  • Perform relief duties for the Manager as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

_ Safety responsibilities -_

  • Responsible for ensuring safe working practices are adopted in the maintenance of equipment and work performed.
  • Ensuring that the team is provided with, and is correctly using, personal protective equipment and clothing.
  • Ensuring that technical staff and contractors under their responsibility are aware of the safety procedures for working on the track.
  • Ensuring that assigned assets are safe for operation.
  • Ensuring that the safety training for the team is regularly refreshed and reassessed.
  • Practicing personal safety when on or about the guideway.
  • Ensuring that the requirements of the Safety Management System are met with respect to the reporting of accidents and incidents on the railway.
  • Ensuring that maintenance facilities and equipment are correctly maintained and fit for use.

_spects - _this role has Significant Environmental Aspects associated with it which may include handling of and exposure to Batteries used in vehicles, stations, substations, and generators and from time-to-time working with other cleaning chemicals or hazardous products.
