An opportunity exists in Stantec's Ottawa, ON office for a highly motivated Intermediate Mechanical Fuels Specialist Technologist/Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team.
In this role you will be working within a mechanical engineering team towards the design and execution of projects ranging in size and complexity, with a focus on industrial, healthcare, commercial and educational projects.
Coordinate and be responsible for the fuels engineering drawings and specifications on multiple projects.Prepare Technical Specifications and documents for bidding and construction.
Responsible for the design of building related mechanical systems across Canada using applicable codes, standards, and reference materials.
Prepare detailed engineering design calculations.
Support specific sales, proposal, and project efforts.
Assist with determining the scope and fee for proposed engineering services.
Nurture and maintain strong client relationships in and for execution of projects, and as appropriate participate in marketing/business development.
Review shop drawings and other contractor submittals for compliance with construction documents.Perform field surveys for drawing development, site reviews and as recorded drawings as required.
Communicate and foster strong relationships with other team members and become familiar with Stantec standards to complete assignments and projects in a timely manner.
Knowledge of Hydronics, Plumbing, Controls, and Fire Protection systems and their design is considered an asset.Existing PSPC Secret or Reliability Clearance status is considered an asset.
Excellent knowledge of national and provincial building codes and standards.
Experience in energy modeling and sustainable design is considered an asset.
Experience working with AutoCAD and REVIT MEP.
Good organization, coordination, and project management skills necessary to maintain project schedules and budgets.
Demonstrated technical writing skills; capable of writing reports, proposals, letters, and technical specifications.
Strong English verbal and writing skills are required. French language skills are considered an asset.
Current Driver's license is required.
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent/diploma in an engineering technology program.
Minimum 4 years of consulting engineering experience in the buildings industry.
Typical office environment working with computers. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
