The Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) is a large, diverse, and comprehensive unit, comprised of six Schools (Nursing, Kinesiology, Health Studies, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Communication Sciences and Disorders), a large Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and four Research Centres.

The Faculty has more than 3,200 undergraduate students and more than 800 graduate students (200 PhD students).


The Arthur Labatt Family School of Nursing will educate nurses who are reflective practitioners and provide recognized leadership in nursing theory, research, practice, inter-professional health teaching and learning, and policy advancements.

The Principal Investigator leads the Gender, Trauma & Violence Knowledge Incubator at Western, which develops free e-learning courses on trauma
- and violence-informed care for pre
- and in-service health and social service professionals.


Responsibilities:


The Instructional Design Consultant will support the Principal Investigator's ongoing research program by providing relevant expertise that contributes to the development of e-learning modules for health and social service professionals.

Specifically, the design of the material will integrate trauma
- and violence-informed care (TVIC) principles into service interactions with patients and clients. The Instructional Design Consultant will support the development of material by the larger research team, including staff and collaborators at Western and other University Hospital Network (UHN), particularly Women's College Hospital, as directed by the Principal Investigator. The incumbent will support and operationalize learning objectives, instructional material, and delivery approach of the module to support innovative and engaging e-learning material.


Education:


  • Master's Degree in Health or Social Science discipline (e.g., sociology, anthropology, public health, health studies, women and gender studies, equity studies or related discipline)
  • Relevant qualifications in Instructional Design

Experience:


  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a professional instructional design capacity
  • Experience in eLearning content development and delivery
  • Some experience working on healthrelated projects, with knowledge of health equity and TVIC is preferred
  • Previous experience in knowledge mobilization activities is preferred
  • Experience working in interdisciplinary teams of researchers is preferred
  • Previous experience in knowledge mobilization strategies is preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:


  • Programming in H5P via eCampus Ontario
  • Programming H5P content for migration to Canvas LMS
  • Design and development of educational materials
