Duties:


The student will be responsible for providing analysis of agricultural resource flows within major agricultural commodity value chains in Canada, including modeling spatial movement and transformation of agricultural commodities across Canada, estimating net export flows of major agricultural commodities between Canada and other trading partners, summary reports and analysis of the transformation of major agricultural commodities into agri-food products across Canada, assessments of usage of major agronomic nutrients, including nitrogen and phosphorus, contained in our agricultural commodity value chains, and mass balance estimates of their use and loss/waste from the agricultural value chain.


Work environment:

The project lead and project worksite is in Edmonton Alberta, based in the AAFC Northern Regional Office.

Education*:


Currently enrolled or will be enrolled by the date of appointment in a Master's or PhD program in a recognized post-secondary institution with a specialization in agricultural or environmental economics.

Degree equivalency


Experience:

Experience* in analyzing agricultural economic micro-data.

Experience* with micro-economic theory and agricultural economics.

  • In the context of student recruitment in the Federal Public Service, the experience can be acquired through studies, work experience, or volunteer activities.

Knowledge:
Knowledge of agricultural economics in Canada.
Knowledge of food waste measurement and issues in Canada.
Knowledge of the economics of the food system in Canada.
