- Post-secondary diploma in Recreation and Leisure, Therapeutic Recreation, Kinesiology or other related fields.
- Restorative Care or similar training. Willing to provide training for the right candidate.
- Excellent multi-tasking skills and the ability to work well on a team and independently.
- Must possess good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience in Long-Term Care or Retirement is preferred.
- Work co-operatively with the activation team and Physiotherapist to lead exercises.
- Perform treatments such as applying ice packs, hot packs and hot wax with direction from the Physiotherapist.
- Conduct, document, and evaluate programs for residents.
- Monitor and assess residents' mental, emotional and spiritual health during programming and provide feedback.
- Encourage resident participation in programs and activities and assist them in attending (or ensure they are offered, the option of attending), where possible.
- Complete all required program and resident care documentation according to department policies and procedures.
- Attend in-service education and participate in team meetings to plan, develop and assess resident care plans.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
