Position Overview
TAI is seeking a talented Project Manager to be responsible for providing project management and oversight for a varying portfolio of TAI Life Reinsurance product development, product installation and consulting projects.
Under the direction of the Executive Director of Project Management, the Project Manager is responsible for budgeting, planning, controlling and reporting of project/program status to TAI management, possibly across single large programs or multiple smaller projects.
An important aspect of this role includes creating, managing, and coordinating the schedule, key deliverables and milestones within a set of projects or program(s), managing and facilitating communication with internal TAI staff, other departments/divisions within TAI and other key stakeholders within the company.
The Project Manager's primary role is to run and deliver high quality projects/programs on schedule, within budget and scope while meeting or exceeding the expectations of all relevant stakeholders including customers.
Responsibilities
- Manage relationships with project stakeholders, including internal and external clients and vendors, keeping stakeholders informed of progress and issues in order to manage expectations on all project requirements and deliverables.
- Continuous Improvement of TAI's project management methodology and framework.
- Manage all facets of cross functional technical projects and programs including: Budget, Program Plan, detailed schedules and milestones, status reporting documents, summary information in appropriate formats, document repository strategy, team roles and responsibility, etc.
- Communicate risks to stakeholders and project sponsors; escalate issues and risks for mitigation.
- Facilitate regularly scheduled project meetings (internal & externally with clients and vendors) as necessary.
- Manage the project budget with overall budget accountability, providing regular updates/reporting to project sponsor and stakeholders.
- If necessary, manage vendor relations and procurement related to the projects.
- Analyze risks, establish contingency plans and identify trigger events and responsibility for initiating mitigating action.
- Track and report on progress to plan, cost and schedule reporting and change control. Manage change to preserve project plan commitments; initiate review if projects must change.
Requirements Position Requirements**:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience
- Project management experience in software delivery from a Vendor to client or managing Vendor deliveries as a client
- 5+ years managing complex projects lasting 6 months or longer, and involving more than 5 team members
- 3+ years working in the Life & Health reinsurance industry is desirable.
- PMP Certified preferred yet not required.
- Highly organized, proficient in Microsoft Project or equivalent, Microsoft office products.
- Must have experience writing and managing business specifications, technical specifications, project plans, and other project documentation.

- Demonstrated ability to manage projects with remote resources
- Willingness to travel up to 20% domestically.
- Willingness to deploy to the field for up to two weeks at a time on rare occasions.
- Demonstrated ability and initiative to deliver on time results, while working in a semiautonomous environment.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, maintain and communicate an accurate project schedule.
- Willingness to learn to work with the tools and solutions selected by the team.
- Proven relationship building ability at all levels of customers, suppliers, consultants both internally and externally.
- Exceptional communication skills, with an ability to present and discuss technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and provides understanding of projectrelated information to a diverse audience (engineers toexecutives)
- Skills and Certifications: PMP, Six Sigma, CMMI, or related.
Physical Requirements
- This role operates in a professional office environment
- Dexterity to operate a laptop computer, cell phone, office equipment and other equipment as needed
- Ability to remain in a sitting position for extended periods of time
- Project work can require travel which may include domestic or international locations by means of air, train, auto, and/or walking
- Mobility and ability to travel to / from client location(s) with a laptop computer, work material and luggage.
