Position summary
Are you interested in being part of a team that creates an exceptionally amazing experience for Faculty of Engineering first year students?


As part of the Student Services team, the First Coordinator supports the First Year Director and Associate Dean Undergraduate Students with projects, events and initiatives designed to create an excellent first year experience.

This position will also support first year students by providing referrals to appropriate resources and services to maximize every students' potential and success.


Duties

Communications:


  • Acts as a point of contact for current undergraduate First Year Students and disseminates routine communications to first year students.
  • Reviews and creates content for relevant web pages as part of the Student Services communications team.
  • Drafts and/or generates routine communications based on straightforward information and prepares materials for events, meetings and committees.

Document/Materials Development:


  • Prepare documents, packages and resources for distribution to students and Faculty stakeholders.
  • Produces technical, graphic and/or slide presentations requested by instructors for teaching purposes.
  • Assist in the creation of "discipline videos'' that explain the academic emphasis, learning outcomes and eventual career opportunities for each of our different programs.

Program/Area Operations & Events:


  • Maintains accurate records of student interactions, student related decisions and/or actions taken.
  • Facilitates the Proactive Supports Program by reaching out to and advising students of the academic and nonacademic services offered through the University of Alberta.
  • Creates and maintains spreadsheets and/or databases. Prepares standard and adhoc reports. Designs and develops customized reports or presentations for specific needs.
  • Coordinates Visiting Speaker/Department events.
  • Sends out surveys or information requests. Compiles submissions for review.
  • Organizes meetings and events on behalf of the area.
  • Assists in the delivery of programs and services through the Engineering Student Success Cen
