    The Senior Underwriter / Team Lead will be accountable for overseeing the day-to-day activities and performance management of a team of underwriters. This includes providing advice and expertise related South Western Group's Commercial Liability programs.
    Lead team performance through proactive coaching, employee development and performance appraisals
    Review risk submissions within assigned authority limits - primarily, but not exclusively, through file and call audits. Secure additional information and review endorsements where necessary and analyze all pertinent data to determine acceptability of risks according to established underwriting standards
    Maintaining the profitability of your portfolio through superior risk analysis, determining the quality of risk and making necessary recommendations on new business and renewals
    Negotiating coverage, policy terms and premium rates with clients, referring business exceeding authority level to the appropriate level
    Contacting external resources as required for additional information pertaining to the risk
    Uplifting technical knowledge of yourself and the team through mentoring, coaching, training and meetings with colleagues and direct reports
    Mentor / train junior underwriter(s) and technical assistant(s)
    Post-Secondary degree or diploma in a related field, such as mathematics, finance, economics, business or equivalent experience
    10+ years of experience in underwriting, (Allied Health, Senior Care)
    Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
    Effective problem solver with initiative to be innovative and creative with developing new ideas and concepts
    Excellent time management skills with proven ability to prioritize, handle multiple tasks and move between projects continuously
