POSITION: Secondary Alternate Teacher - temporaryINITIAL ASSIGNMENT: Secondary Alternate Teacher, Alternate Education. Interpersonal and Family Relations 11 taught daily as part of the alternate program. 4 blocks English, 1 block Career Life Education 10/Career Life Connections 12, 1 prep block.

LOCATION: McNaughton Centre
EFFECTIVE DATES: Commencing April 16, 2024 to June 30, 2024 or earlier depending on the return of the incumbent.
Basic Qualifications: A successful candidate will hold a valid BC Teaching Certificate and be a member in good standing in the BC Ministry of Education, Teacher Regulation Branch AND possess one or more of the following:
Training Specialization: Secondary Education with a major/minor in English
Related Teaching Experience: Recent successful experience teaching English and Career Education at the secondary level and implementing adaptations through differentiated instruction.
A Reasonable Expectation: based on a teacher's skills, abilities, professional development, and overall classroom teaching experience, that the teacher will be able to perform the duties in a successful manner in collaboration with other professional staff.
Additional Qualifications:
Two or more courses at the 300 or 400 level in English

The focus of the program at McNaughton Centre is to foster positive relationships and support students in academic and social goals

The starting annual salary for this full-time temporary Secondary Alternate Teacher ranges from $59,394 to $106,217 with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. We also offer a competitive benefits package and pension.
