JOB SUMMARY
The Research Analyst reports to the ICES North Site Director.

The Research Analyst will work collaboratively with the project team and under the direction of Principal Investigators (PI), Local Lead Analyst, and/or Staff Scientist, will provide analytic input to, and complete their assigned projects.


KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
Under supervision of the ICES North Site Director and Local Lead Analyst and in collaboration with Principal Investigators (PI) /Staff Scientist, the Research Analyst will perform the following duties:

  • Develop and execute a data set creation plan and analysis plan for their assigned projects;
  • Develop SAS programs to extract and merge data from existing ICES databases according to data set creation plans to create study cohorts following analytic standards and guidelines;
  • Carry out statistical analysis on developed study cohorts according to specifications of project analysis plans;
  • Prepare and review (with Manager as required) analytic output (e.g., tables and reports);
  • Liaise with project team, PI/Staff Scientist, ensuring check points are being done as part of process;
  • Work effectively and efficiently according to ICES policies, procedures, standards, workflow processes, documents and requirements (e.g., complete program and project documentation according to ICES standards and guidelines);
  • May help prepare study cohorts for students or faculty;
  • May contribute to the writing of reports (technical reports/working papers/ICES publications/webbased summaries), abstracts, poster presentations, peerreviewed publications and other relevant deliverables, in collaboration with the PI or Staff Scientist;
  • May interface with internal and external stakeholders in support of the project such as expert panels, committees and team meetings;
  • May facilitate the uptake of knowledge by local decisionmakers across Northern Ontario through the presentation of findings, education sessions, and oneonone interactions as required;
  • May contribute to other committees or activities within ICES North in support of ICES North and ICES business plan as required;
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.

Education
Master's degree in health-related field or biostatistics preferred but not required.


Experience
Knowledge generally gained through 2 years related experience with statistical programming.


Technical Skills

  • Statistical programming; knowledge of SAS an asset.
  • Basic understanding of the concepts of health services research and understanding of core biostatistical analytic techniques;
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, Internet Explorer), as well as the ability to work with computerized databases;
  • Welldeveloped oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Ability to manage and prioritize work load responsibilities and timelines;
  • Ability to work accurately and effectively under pressure, and to meet deadlines.
